Anyone else deal with customs when ordering a drone?

I ordered the Mini 4 from DJI’s website. It shipped from China, and now UPS says it needs customs clearance. They’re asking for my tax ID and commodity info. Has anyone else had to deal with this?

Yeah, this happens a lot with DJI orders. It’s pretty normal.

Since it’s coming from another country, customs clearance is standard. I work as a Customs Broker, so just provide them with the info they’re asking for.

As far as I know, a tax ID or EIN is something businesses have. If you’re just a regular buyer, you probably don’t have one.

Exactly, so what do I send them instead?

Use your SSN. That should work for individuals.

Once everything is in order, it usually takes 3-5 days to clear. I got mine last Saturday. Ordered it on December 5th.

You probably would’ve been better off grabbing it from Costco.

Costco has these? That would’ve been perfect. I wish I knew that before ordering.

Yeah, they sell them. But you might not find them online. Try calling your local Costco. There are also smaller online stores like Beach Camera that usually have them.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago. It shipped from China via DHL, and either DJI or DHL sent the info to customs beforehand. Mine cleared the same day it arrived. I had priority shipping, but it was free for me.

I shared my experience on another thread. After my Air 3 files were properly set up, I had no customs delays on the second shipment.
