Anyone know who invented drones and how it all started?

Crazy how drones have evolved. The military used them a lot in Vietnam, right?

Yep, they were called the Ryan Model 147s, or ‘Lightning Bugs’. They were used for recon and other missions during Vietnam. Over 3,400 were deployed, and each one usually did three missions before it was lost.

@Harley
Thanks for the info! Didn’t realize so many were used.

Does anyone know if drones will ever be used for passenger transport? I read that companies like Uber are looking into it.

@Qi
That’s awesome! I wonder if it’s safe, though. I’d be nervous flying in a giant drone.

Drones are just getting better with AI. I heard they’re going to be able to make decisions on their own soon. Anyone else think that sounds a bit scary?

Yeah, AI is expected to make drones more autonomous. It’s exciting but definitely kinda freaky to think they could fly around without someone controlling them.

@Hadi
Right? Imagine a swarm of drones making decisions on their own. Makes me think of sci-fi movies lol.

Haha, exactly! But they say AI could make things safer too. Guess we’ll see.

Just thinking… drones are all over the place now, from military to delivery. Anyone know if regulations will limit their growth?

Good question. Governments are actually working on new frameworks for drone use. They’re trying to balance innovation with safety and privacy.

@Reese
Interesting. Wonder if they’ll limit where we can fly them in cities. Kinda cool and concerning at the same time.
