Anyone tried the DJI AS1 Speaker for Matrice 4... worth it?

I was looking into the DJI AS1 Speaker for the Matrice 4 Series drones and saw it’s sold out for $215. Looks like it has some cool features like real-time broadcasting and text-to-speech. Anyone used this before? Is it actually worth the price for things like public safety or event management?

I’ve used it for a wildlife management project. The audio output is legit—114 decibels is no joke. It works great for scaring off pests, lol.

Whoa, 114 decibels? That’s loud. Did you find it easy to install on the drone?

@Wynne
Oh yeah, super easy. It uses quick-release screws, so you don’t need tools—takes like a minute tops.

@Wynne
What are quick-release screws? Sorry, not super familiar with drone accessories. :sweat_smile:

@Wynne
No worries! They’re screws you can tighten by hand—super convenient for quick setups without needing extra tools.

I’ve been using it for event management. The text-to-speech feature is awesome for making quick announcements. Super clear and saves so much time!

How does the text-to-speech work? Do you just type the message, and it broadcasts?

@Tian
Yep, exactly! You type in the message, and the speaker converts it into speech. It’s surprisingly clear.

I used it during a search-and-rescue mission. The broadcast range is impressive—300 meters covered the entire area we needed.

Does it work well in windy conditions? I’m worried the sound might get lost.

@Sia
It holds up decently, but wind can still affect it a bit. Positioning the drone properly helps minimize issues.

It’s a bit pricey at $215, but the recorded messages and media import options make it super versatile. Worth it if you have frequent use cases.

What kind of media can you import? Like, can it play music or just pre-recorded commands?

@Asher
Pre-recorded commands mostly, but it can handle most audio files if you need something specific.

I think the lightweight design is underrated. At 92.5g, it doesn’t mess with the drone’s performance much.

True, weight matters. Have you noticed any change in flight time or stability?

@Wren
Not really! It’s so light that it doesn’t make a noticeable difference in flight time or control.
