So no entry-level drones with obstacle avoidance this year? I have the Mini 3 without any obstacle avoidance and I’m thinking about upgrading to the Mini 4 Pro, but I can’t justify the price unless that’s the only feature I’m after. I fly safely away from obstacles, but having obstacle avoidance would be nice.

To be fair, it’s that obstacle avoidance feature that drives up the price. (That’s why there are so few affordable drones with that feature)

If you fly comfortably without it, then don’t upgrade. So many people crash their gear because they follow along on a bike. If you have VLOS, it may not be that critical…

Lidar seems to be the big topic people are discussing, which would really improve obstacle detection and avoidance.

Oh, I’ve heard a lot about lidar in 3D printing but didn’t know it was being added to drones.

It is on the Air 3s. Other potential improvements could include:

1" sensor
better nighttime OA
better autonomous modes
