Are these actually worth it or just a gimmick...?

They’re super cheap on AliExpress, and reviews were decent, so I bought one for my Mini 4 Pro. No range improvement. Maybe slightly better penetration at close range, but that’s debatable.

Hard to trust AliExpress, though. They sell ‘4K drones’ for $50, but the cameras look like they’re from a 20-year-old flip phone.

Same thing here—if you find them elsewhere, it’s probably the same product with a markup.

This thing is super simple, no electronics involved. No real way to mess it up.

Yeah, but antenna placement and dimensions actually matter. It’s not just about slapping on some metal rods. If they weren’t designed properly, they’re just decorative.

Unless you’re dealing with crazy interference, you won’t need a range extender if you’re flying legally.

Buy it and let us know!

Unless you have actual testing equipment and controlled conditions, any perceived benefits will just be placebo.

Calling FAKE! There’s no real connection between the Yagi and the controller’s antenna—just plastic on plastic.

To actually extend range, you’d need an amplifier, which would be expensive and require power. This thing is just a gimmick for newbies.

@Ezri
There’s such a thing as radiated coupling and inductive coupling. Technically, this setup could shape the radio signal slightly and make it more directional. But any range boost would be minimal.
