Avata battery has a crack—Is it safe to continue using?

I found a small crack in my battery and I’m worried about potential damage or an unexpected crash. I can’t afford a new battery at the moment, so is it essential to stop using it? If not, I plan to fly it more conservatively until I can get a replacement (thinking about the ‘fly more’ option).

This is what happens when it’s not.

@Uma
Wait, could that crack lead to problems while flying?

These are LiPo batteries, and anything can happen at any moment.

Schrödinger’s battery is both on fire and not on fire until you check.

@Ash
Until you take it for a flight.

Actually, they’re not. The Avata 2 uses lithium-ion batteries.

@jude
I have the 1.

Don’t use that battery! Buy a new one. We like your Avata and don’t want it to go kaput mid-air.

Should I be flying with a cracked battery? And should I be getting back together with my ex-wife? To be clear, the answer is no to both.

Dude, you can’t fly with that.

If you fly that again, it’s like turning it into a combat drone! If it crashes hard enough, it might explode on impact.

Really?

Take my upvote.

That might just be a crack in the outer casing. How did that happen?

I hit a tree going about 6m/s from 10 feet high and landed straight on pavement. I was doing tight maneuvers with the motion controller and didn’t see it.

Absolutely not.

Sure, it can be fine.

Hurry before the magic smoke starts coming out… then you can make smoke trails! Haha.

It could just be the outer shell that’s cracked. I’d recommend carefully charging it while keeping an eye on it. If you try it out on the drone, don’t go too far or fly over water. I have an Avata 1 with a dented battery that’s still working like new.
