Buying a used DJI Mavic Pro... How to check for fakes and condition?

I’m planning to buy my first drone and found a used Mavic Pro. Going to check it out this week and wanted to ask for advice.

Are fakes a thing I should worry about? What are the key things to look for in terms of condition besides a visual inspection and a test flight? Any specific flight tests I should ask for to make sure it’s working properly?

I’m completely new to drones, so any guidance would be appreciated!

Unless it’s priced way below a Mini 4K, I’d avoid the first-gen Mavic Pro. If it’s really cheap, the risk of fakes is low.

Check the battery health, make sure the drone connects to the controller and your phone, and watch out for dead batteries.

Seller is asking $250.

I’d be cautious at that price. Also, remember it’s over 250g, so you’ll have to follow more regulations compared to a Mini-series drone.

Yeah, I’m fine with the registration and Remote ID rules. Planning to get my Part 107 for work anyway. Just need something basic for checking ground conditions in rural areas.

Seems like the price might be a bit high given the age and limitations, so I’ll try to negotiate.

@Adair
Good call. Also, that Mavic Pro doesn’t have built-in Remote ID, so you’d need to add an external beacon.
