I found this drone crashed in my garden today. I don’t know much about drones, so I was wondering if anyone here can help me figure out what it is. Is it just a cheap toy, or something more serious? Here’s a picture:
Looks like someone’s attempt at a budget Christmas gift.

I don’t know anything about drones. Is this one of those $20 deals from AliExpress or something better?

Yeah, looks like it’s in the $20–50 range. It’s slightly better than the absolute cheapest ones because it has brushless motors.

Probably closer to $15.
That’s just a cheap toy drone. Nothing fancy.

Thanks for confirming!
You could put it on a pole in your yard to send a message to whoever lost it.

Better yet, stick the camera module on a spike for everyone to see.

Maybe flay it first for maximum effect.
Looks like a basic entry-level toy drone. Be careful with the battery, though. A lot of these cheap ones still use lipo batteries, which can be dangerous if damaged, and this one looks like it’s been through a crash.
It’s just a toy, but please don’t throw it away yet. When I was younger, my toy drone flew away, and it really upset me. Maybe post about it in a local Facebook group or put up some ‘found drone’ posters in your area. You might make a kid really happy if you can return it, even if it’s broken.
@Fifer
Good idea. I’ll post it locally and leave it for a week. If no one claims it, I might keep the motors for some kind of project.
That’s called a ‘Toladrone TD12 Pro.’ It’s a cheap toy drone you can find on Amazon.

Yeah, and from the looks of it, it was never worth the $70 they’re asking for.
It’s a $30 piece of junk.
Oh, snap! That’s mine!
Just another one of those low-quality Holystone drones.

They’re fine for kids as toys. They’re cheap and fun, but definitely not real camera drones.

What’s wrong with Holystone drones?
