Could 3rd party chargers be causing battery swelling?

I have an Air2s Fly More combo from 2021 with 3 batteries. I’ve flown around 33 hours so far, rotating between the batteries. All 3 of them seem to have swelled up, and from what I’ve seen online, they probably need replacing. I can tell because when I place them on a flat surface or rock them, they wobble.

I’ve been using a third-party charger for the past year or so because it’s really convenient. It allows charging from a USB-C cable, either using a power bank or in the car. Here’s the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B094JB3C8G/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0

I’m wondering if the swelling is due to this third-party charger. I don’t want to buy new batteries and mess them up too. Any advice?

When it comes to batteries, it’s always better to go with name-brand accessories. Just buy an official charger.

I have the official charger and used it for a long time. But the third-party one is just so convenient, especially since it lets me charge from a USB-C cable using a power bank or in the car. If the swelling is really caused by the third-party charger, though, I guess the convenience isn’t worth it if it damages the batteries.

That makes sense. Sounds like you know it could be the charger, but maybe the convenience is worth the risk for you. It’s up to you, man!

I had a third-party charger make my Mini 2 battery swell while it was inside the drone. I’ll never use a third-party charger with my DJI drones again. The batteries are LiPo, so if you charge them too fast, they can swell.

@Winter
What charger were you using, and how did you figure out it was the charger causing the swelling and not just age?
