Do I Need RID if I Register My Mini 4 Pro (249g)?

I got my TRUST certificate which says I need to register my drone. I know if I use the Plus batteries, I need RID, but what about just the regular Mini 4 Pro (249g)?

I believe the drone already has RID built in.

Hi KSH, thanks for reaching out! Can you confirm your location?

Thanks for confirming. If you’re flying with the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus, RID will automatically be enabled for the DJI Mini 4 Pro and can’t be disabled.

@Asa
Are you sure it can’t be disabled?

Yes, any drone that is registered or needs to be registered must have RID. A sub-250 Mini 4 Pro doesn’t require registration to fly recreationally, but once registered, it needs RID.

Can you cite that? If I register my drone but it’s 249g or under and not flying Part 107, RID shouldn’t be required. I don’t think registration itself matters.

Edit: I was wrong. Learned something new today.

Here’s a link from the FAA: https://www.faa.gov/uas/getting_started/remote_id

I’ve also emailed the FAA about this and can share their response if you’d like.

Which Drones Must Comply With Remote ID?

Drones that are required to be registered, or are registered, including those flown for recreation, business, or public safety, must comply with the rule on Remote ID.

Perfect! Thanks for the clarification!
