Help with Storage SD Card and More

Hi everyone! I just got my Pocket 3 for Christmas and I LOVE IT. I like to vlog a lot, and this is my first real camera. I’m super excited because I want to start uploading on YouTube this year. But I’m running into some problems with storage, storing videos, and exporting them. I talk a lot, and one of the first videos I made was 40 minutes. I bought a 64GB micro SD card, and after that video, I only had about 20 minutes of recording time left. It’s a bit discouraging, and now I’m thinking I might need to buy a 1TB SD card or keep buying smaller ones. I’m also having issues exporting with the Mimo app. I tried exporting via SD to Mac, but when I put the SD card back into the Pocket 3, I got an SD card initialization error. Can anyone guide me on how to store, export, and edit videos? I want to be as productive as possible, but this is a bit discouraging. :frowning:

Hey, I don’t have a Pocket 3 myself, so take this with a grain of salt. For my drones, I use a Chromebook to read the micro SD card, then transfer everything to a USB flash drive, and later copy it to a PC whenever I can. What SD cards are you using?

@Darian
I tried exporting from micro SD to Mac to USB, but there wasn’t enough space on the USB. I’m thinking of buying a hard drive or a larger USB today. Would you recommend this method for uploading and editing too? By the way, I’m using SanDisk Extreme 64GB micro SD cards.

@Uma
For cameras, you’ll want a big SD card. I use 128GB for my drones, and it’s still too little. I’d suggest getting a SanDisk Extreme PRO 512GB for the faster speed. For a USB flash drive, I have a 256GB SanDisk 3.0. If you want to store everything, you’ll need a 1TB or even a 2TB USB drive. Keep it safe!

@Darian
I got a 128GB and filled it up in a day :frowning: Next, I’m thinking of either a 512GB SD card or a TB, and maybe a 2-5TB flash or hard drive.

Two things:

  1. The Pocket 3 supports up to 512GB.
  2. You might want to adjust your recording settings to save space. What are you filming that uses 128GB a day? I barely used 30GB on a whole trip!

@Darian
When I got the 128GB, it gave me about 4 hours of recording time. Is that normal? I mostly film video diaries, and they can get long since I’m busy. Should I look for another way to record longer videos?

@Uma
You’re fine with one SD card, just make it a 512GB Extreme PRO for faster speeds. Back up your footage to a 1-5TB hard drive weekly and clear out old footage.

You’re the best! I was feeling so lost. Thank you so much!

@Uma
No worries! I’m happy to help where I can.

@Ty
How easy is it to offload to the 20TB NAS? Also, when you edit in Premiere, is your computer connected to the NAS the whole time? Nothing is actually ‘uploaded’ to the computer, right?

@Ty
That’s exactly what I thought! Great advice! Would you recommend something smaller than 20TB but still good? I’ll probably need more than 5TB.
