How common are bird attacks? Have you ever had one attack? How long have you been flying? What do you do to protect your drone? Red tape? Insurance? What insurance can you get other than DJI Refresh and what is your rate and deductible? Thanks!!

On my third ever flight with DJI mini 2 SE, skies were clear. Very clear. I was at 393ft hover right above me and up out of nowhere came a flock of red wing black birds from a nearby woods. They attacked the drone. I immediately decreased altitude and brought it back home safely. Thankfully, no damage to bird or drone. Unfortunately, sd card was out for delivery from Amazon, so I have no footage to back the tale. Upon internet research, this species of bird generally don’t attack, but also aren’t generally in my area this time of year. I was thinking of taping reflective Mylar tape to body of drone as a preventive measure. I purchased drones (broken arms) from auction site and do not have DJI coverage. Fly safe, friend.

Not common. Birds can be aggressive but they almost never make actual contact.

I had an eagle swoop by mine once. I got State Farm insurance on it. Never had to use it so no idea if it’s worth it.

How much do you pay and do you have to pay a deductible if you lose it?

I can’t even remember the deductible. I think it’s $60/year.

you guys have insurance, wild . I fly fpv race drones been clipped by raptors twice in California, once it just got a prop, once it made me fail safe to the ground. replaced the arm, on my merry way.
