Get an external drive. Hard drives with terabytes of space are super cheap now.
I keep all my raw footage on multiple external drives, stored in different locations like home and work.
I use Synology and QNAP NAS systems. If you’re on a budget, older rack server units on eBay work great, but buying the hard drives for them is the expensive part.
I use a USB drive for my videos. I organize them by year, month, and day, with an ‘Edited’ folder for completed projects. It makes it easy to manage multiple videos.
I shoot everything in 1080p since my TV isn’t 4K. It saves space and still looks great. I’ve kept most of my footage from the past five years, even though I rarely use a lot of it.
I use a 4TB Bee drive. It’s like a beginner-friendly NAS. The phone app makes it easy to access my footage when I want to share it with others.
I use a Synology NAS DS923+ with four 14TB Seagate IronWolf Pro drives. If you’re new to NAS setups, check out SpaceRex’s channel on YouTube. It’s really helpful!
