I took the FAA Part 107 exam this morning and was honestly surprised by how it went. I was pretty sure I’d pass, but when I saw the actual questions, I started doubting myself. After about an hour, I checked IACRA, and my score was already linked to my application. The temporary certificate was available right away after I signed the forms. I think it was faster because I already have a Part 61 student pilot certificate, so the TSA risk check was already done under my FTN.
For studying, I started with the Pilot Institute but got burnt out halfway through. I switched to the ASA textbook and finished up with some short YouTube review videos. It took me around 3-4 weeks in total.
Good luck to everyone working on their Part 107! Now I’m thinking about buying a “real” drone. I’m considering a DJI Mini 3 Pro, so any thoughts on that would be appreciated!

That’s impressive! Any reason you didn’t just go for the online training since you already have a Part 61 certificate?
Thanks! The Part 61 “shortcut” only applies if you have a non-student certificate. I never finished my private pilot training, so even though I took the (similar) written exam for Part 61 a few years ago, it didn’t count for Part 107.
Congrats! I’ve been studying since September, and my test is in a week. I completed UAV Coach’s course and am finishing up Pilot Institute’s. I’m still struggling with latitudes, longitudes, and minutes. I’ve been getting 80+ on practice tests, so fingers crossed.
Congrats! Same thing happened to me, I think it’s just the test anxiety. Same thing happened when I took my PPL written—I thought ‘there’s no way I passed,’ but I still got an 85%.
