Thinking about getting a Mini 3, but I know it’s been out for over two years now. I’ve heard mostly good things about choosing it over the Mini 4K. My main concern is whether it’ll still be supported for a while or if it’s too late to buy one. Don’t want to end up with an outdated drone right after I buy it.
I’m only using it for personal trips, nothing professional. Would love to hear some thoughts—thanks!
I have the Mini 3 Pro, and it’s great. But if I could do it again, I’d go for a model with side sensors. Most of the shots you’ll want to do involve moving sideways or circling a subject, and that’s when side sensors really help.
I’ve had a few close calls because of this. And yeah, I know, people say ‘just keep line of sight’—but once your drone is more than 50m away, you really can’t see it clearly.

Doesn’t really matter how far the range is if you can’t see it… flying beyond line of sight is illegal in most places. People ignoring the rules are the reason drones might get banned everywhere.
I was deciding between the Mini 2 and 3… the Mini 2 is actually better than the Mini 4K in some ways. Ended up getting the Mini 3 and no regrets! I just fly for fun. Found a used one for $220, barely flown, and got a new RC controller for $100. Such a good deal!
Got a refurbished Mini 4K from DJI’s official store for $271, came with a 128GB card. Works great for me! Ended up buying an extra battery for $55 so I could get more flight time.
The Mini 3 is at the end of its updates, but that’s actually a good thing—it means all the improvements have already been made. The camera is excellent, and the vertical mode is a bonus. I love mine. It’s super quiet, and not having obstacle avoidance forces you to be a better pilot.
@Zaire
You should find good deals there. I was thinking of going to Shenzhen to see if I could get one even cheaper. No idea if that’s actually the case, though—would be interesting to check.

Yeah, there are a ton of drones across the border in Shenzhen and they’re pretty cheap. But DJI prices are about the same. You should definitely visit Shenzhen though, it’s worth the trip.
