Is the DJI Mic 2 sweat or waterproof?

Looking for advice on how well the Mic 2 handles sweat and rain. I mostly see motorcyclists using it inside their helmets, so it’s protected there.

Anyone here use it for cycling? We don’t have full helmets, so it gets exposed to sweat, and sometimes we get caught in the rain. Just wondering if that could damage the mic.

Also, any tips on keeping it clean and dry during activities like this?

Sweat-proof? Oh no, don’t buy it! :joy:

Yeah, it’ll just record constant beeping. :joy:

Might wanna return it… sorry! :laughing:

I couldn’t find an official IP rating in the specs. So I’d assume it’s not waterproof. Might survive a little exposure, but I wouldn’t risk it too much.

Yeah, I checked the specs too, and they don’t mention anything about water resistance. Hoping someone with actual experience using it in rough conditions can share what happened.

The transmitter doesn’t have gasket seals, so any water getting inside is a gamble. If it’s just light rain, you might be okay, but heavy exposure could cause some real damage. And if water gets into the battery, well… let’s just say it won’t be pretty.

Best option? Put the transmitter in a small plastic bag and use the external mic input to connect a cheap lavalier mic. Most lavs can handle a bit of moisture if positioned right, and if it gets ruined, you’re only out $10 instead of losing an expensive transmitter.

Edit: If you use a plastic bag, throw in a desiccant pouch to help with moisture. Also, let the transmitter and bag adjust to the outside temperature before sealing it up—condensation inside could be just as bad as rain.

@Jesse
Big :brain: move, especially the lav mic trick!

If it gets too much sweat, it might just quit in protest. :laughing:
