Is the Fly More Combo really worth the extra cost?

I’m thinking about buying the DJI Mini 4K, but I don’t have much money. The Fly More Combo is way more expensive, and I’m not sure if it’s worth stretching my budget for. What do you all think? Should I go for it or stick with the standard version?

If you’re broke, maybe you should reconsider buying a drone right now. It seems like it could be a bad financial decision. But it’s up to you.

I’m a teenager making my first bit of money, so I don’t have any real financial responsibilities yet. This is just something I’m really interested in, but I don’t want to blow all my money at once.

@Riley
If you’re serious about it and get good, you could potentially make money with it. I’m 16 and I make about $3,000 per shoot, using a $400 Canon R100 kit along with my drone. Anything is possible if you put in the effort.

@Colby
I’ve been flying toy drones for a while, and a guy who flies drones professionally said I have pretty good control.

That’s a good start! Keep practicing cinematic movements and learn video/photo editing. You’ll be good to go.

@Colby
What kind of editing do you focus on? And what do you usually film?

I do both video and photo editing, and they’re pretty connected, so learning both is helpful. I film events, parties, cars, and sometimes do mapping for farmers. Just a heads up, if you’re in the U.S., you’ll need a license to make money with your drone.

@Colby
What drone do you use?

I have the Mini 3 and rent the Inspire series for bigger projects.

Do you do property photos with it?

I film a little bit of everything.

I’m in Canada, and I read that you don’t need a license for drones under 250 grams here.

That’s something you’d want to double-check with someone familiar with Canadian rules.

Honestly, I wouldn’t buy a drone without the Fly More Combo. But at the same time, I wouldn’t recommend buying a drone if you’re broke.

I have the Mini 4K, and I wouldn’t get it without the Fly More Combo. The advertised ‘31 minutes’ of battery life is only in perfect conditions, which you’ll rarely be in. Realistically, you get around 22 minutes, and if you’re flying far, you have to save 2-4 minutes to get it back to you. So, in most cases, you’ll only get about 18 minutes of usable flight time per battery.

The Fly More Combo’s three batteries will give you about an hour of flying, which makes a huge difference. With just one battery, you’d get frustrated pretty quickly.

Why not get the Mini 3 instead?

Edit: Oops, I thought you were talking about the Mini 4 Pro!

Is the Mini 3 cheaper?

No, my bad! I thought you meant the Mini 4 Pro. Sorry for the confusion.
