I’m thinking about getting a Mini 3 as my first drone. I’ve heard mixed reviews—some say it’s light and fragile, but others praise its handling and photo quality. Is it worth it for a beginner, or should I consider something else? Any advice would be great.
I just used my Mini 3 yesterday, and it surprised me! The controls are easy, and it held up well even in windy conditions. Don’t let people discourage you—it’s a great drone for its size.

That’s a good clip. Are the controls beginner-friendly?
@Morgan
Yes, very easy. I used cheap drones before, so I was somewhat familiar, but the Mini 3 is way better and much easier to fly.
Look into refurbished models if you want to save some money. I got my Mini 3 Pro refurbished, and it’s been great—same warranty, same performance, and you can add the DJI Care Refresh plan.

That’s what I did too. Refurbished was highly recommended, and I haven’t been disappointed.
@Kai
Exactly! My refurbished Mini 3 Pro, Air 2S, and Osmo Pocket 3 have all been fantastic. Highly recommend the Care Refresh plan—it saved me when I crashed my Mavic!
The Mini 3 is too light and fragile. You’re better off with an Air series or Mavic for durability.

I totally disagree. The Mini 3 Pro is very capable, and all drones are fragile to some extent. The goal is not to crash them!
@Axel
True, but if you do crash, the Mini 3 won’t hold up as well as the bigger drones.
I’ve done roof surveys and other jobs with the Mini 3, even in winds up to 24 mph. It’s fine for most tasks!
Check YouTube for reviews. Watching videos will answer most of your questions and give you a good idea of what the drone can do.
The Mini 3 takes amazing photos. Unfortunately, mine decided to take a swim after flying into a bridge!
Skip the small drones and go straight for the Air series. They’re more durable and versatile.
It’s very easy to fly. Here’s some footage from my Mini 3—you’ll love it as a beginner.
