Is the Mini 4K RTH being off by about 1 meter normal?

I just got the Mini 4K, and I really like it, but the Return to Home (RTH) being off by around 1 meter is bugging me. Is this just how it works, or is there a way to make it more accurate?

That’s pretty normal for GPS accuracy on drones.

There’s something called Precision Landing, though, which might help. Most DJI drones can use their bottom cameras to land more accurately. To do this, try auto-takeoff from a surface with good contrast (like a takeoff pad). After you lift off, hover at around 7–8 meters for a few seconds without rotating or moving the drone sideways. The drone might capture the takeoff spot visually, which can help it return closer to the exact spot. The tricky part is there’s no clear indicator this worked, so you’ll only know if it lands where it took off from.

I didn’t know about this! I’ll give it a try next time I fly.

Does the Mini 4K even have bottom cameras? I didn’t think it did.

I’m not sure about cameras, but I think it does have visual positioning.

I thought Precision Landing was only on the Mini 4 Pro.

Yeah, that sounds about right for RTH accuracy.

Mine’s a little off, too. Took off from my driveway and landed a couple of feet away in the garden.

I had a Mini 2, and it was pretty much the same—within about 1 meter on RTH. I don’t think the Mini 4K has downward sensors like the Air 3 or Mini 4 Pro for better precision.

I had a rough experience with my Mini 3 Pro once—its battery was low, and it tried RTH but couldn’t because of high winds. I would’ve been thrilled with just a 1-meter miss!

I don’t think the Mini 4K has Precision Landing like the Mini 4 Pro.

For example, the Mini 4 Pro has this feature:

Precision Landing: The drone uses its camera to match terrain features when returning to its Home Point. If the match fails, you’ll get a notification in the DJI Fly app.

Without that, it’s relying just on GPS, and it’s normal for it to be a little off.
