Every time I fly, I half expect something to go wrong. I nearly lost mine a couple of months ago when I was trying to get a shot and lost signal behind a building. It started hovering over some train tracks, which luckily were empty. I was so relieved when it started to Return to Home.
@Wei
That’s exactly how I feel! Every time it lands safely, I’m amazed it made it back in one piece.
Are you serious? Flying in heavy rain was clearly a choice you made. How’s that a ‘technical incident?’ If I were your boss, you’d be fired.

Good thing you’re not my boss, then.
Let’s be real here, this was all on you. It’s the pilot’s responsibility to assess the risks.

I’d say it was about 50/50. That’s why I did a test flight on the ground before continuing. Everything was fine for those first 10 minutes—no alerts, nothing. You can never fly without some risk. Heavy rain, wind, birds… it’s all part of the job.
You lost me at ‘flying under quite heavy rain.’
So, is the drone still alive?

Nope, it’s done for. After 18 hours in saltwater, it’s rusted beyond repair.
I had a scare recently with my Mini 2. I took it up to 80 meters and got a critical battery error, even though it was showing 98% charged. It started an emergency landing on its own. Luckily, I was able to bring it down safely. If I’d been flying over water, I probably would’ve lost it.
Wow, that’s a long story. But hey, we live, learn, and move on. Good luck, mate!
What’s the IP rating for the Mavic 2? I didn’t think they were supposed to fly in the rain.

I’m not sure. I’ve flown in rain before without any issues. The drone was fine, but the RC was what failed. I actually thought the RC would be better protected.
Look on the bright side… at least the propellers are still good!
DJI crab?
I didn’t even last a year before losing three drones. It’s still a blast, though.
If it’s written off and your company doesn’t want it, I’d gladly take it off your hands.
That’s tough, I’m sorry to hear it. Would you be willing to sell the parts? I need a few to fix my own drone.

Sorry, but I can’t sell it. It belongs to my company. How did your drone get damaged?
Sorry about your loss. It sounds similar to an issue I had recently with my Mavic. The Home Point updated mid-flight to a spot over water. When it started RTH, I couldn’t regain control for a while, and it nearly landed in the lake. It was a close call, but I managed to bring it back just in time.
