Just passed my Part 107 test… anyone else taking it?

Wanted to share some good news—I passed my Part 107 test with a 90%! I started studying just a week ago, using YouTube videos, the FAA study guide, and lots of practice tests. Spent around 15 hours total studying.

Most of my test focused on sectional charts, which made it easier for me. I didn’t get any weather-related questions, luckily, since I struggled with cloud types and fog during practice tests. Now I’ve submitted my application and am waiting for the temporary certificate, followed by the full one in the mail.

Feeling pretty pumped!

Check out the guide for passing the Part 107 on this forum! It’s got a bunch of tips and resources.

Congrats! I’m in high school and taking a UAS class right now. Our whole class will be taking the Part 107 soon, and we don’t have to pay for it!

That’s awesome it’s free for you! Mine cost $175, so I was super nervous about failing and having to pay again. Glad I managed to pass, even with two toddlers running around the house while I studied…lol.

Congrats on passing!

Thank you!

Nice work! I just passed mine last week with an 83%. Most of my test was charts too.

I’m studying for my 107 now. Can you share any tips or what you remember from the test?

Mine had a lot of sectional charts, so definitely focus on those. I just used practice tests and study guides, and it helped a ton.

Do you have to renew the certification after you get it?

Yep, it needs to be renewed every 24 months.

Yep, it needs to be renewed every 24 months.

At least they moved the renewal online. You don’t have to go back to a testing center anymore, and I think the renewal test is free too.

@BrianCopland
I wonder if the renewal test is just as hard or if it’s easier.

A couple of my coworkers renewed theirs. They said it’s a little easier, but there’s new stuff to learn, like updated regulations. So it kind of balances out.

Congrats! I passed mine in August. I agree, lots of sectional charts on the test. Barely had any weather questions.

Can you share the videos and guides you used?

Sure! I followed this video: https://youtu.be/6_ucCKFJUCU?si=_vkicdq62hBU-R1_

There’s a study guide linked in the video description. I also used the study guide on the FAA’s website.

@Reese
All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Nice!

6 + 62 + 1 = 69

^(Summon me to check numbers in future comments!)

Great job!

Congrats!
