Malaysia just made flying drones a hassle. Now you need to submit a flight plan 14 days ahead and pay $50 per flight. This pretty much kills it for hobbyists and tourists. What do you all think?
$50 per flight and a 2-week wait? No way hobbyists will do that. Might as well ban them completely at this point.

Shhh… don’t give them any more bad ideas.
That’s ridiculous.
More and more countries are banning drones. I barely got to use mine on trips last year.
Guess tinywhoops are the future… we’ll just be flying indoors now.

Maybe DJI will drop a ‘Neo Micro’ for that?
Of all the drones they could’ve shown, they picked a Spark and a Phantom? Lol.
Honestly, I get it. Too many people flying drones right over tourists and crowded spots. Imagine being on vacation and there’s always some drone buzzing around. Kinda ruins the vibe.
Does this include Mini drones too?
Same in Thailand. Took my drone there last month and found out you need a pricey permit.

Didn’t know that… was thinking about taking mine to Nicaragua, but I heard they just ban them completely.

I was in Thailand in January and that’s not exactly right.
A) You have to register with their telecom agency, which costs about $6.
B) To do that, you need to pass a 40-question test about their drone laws. You get 40 minutes and can retake it after 24 hours.
It’s annoying, but they give you all the study material, so I passed on my second try.
I flew mine on Koh Chang and Koh Kood, and nobody cared. Barely saw anyone else flying either, so enforcement seems low.
Only way is under the table lah…

Nope, take this upvote, you rebellious sky pirate!
Easier title: Malaysia just banned hobby drones.

Well, I bet people annoyed by drones did ask for it. This is why we can’t have nice things.
