Mini 3 fly more combo or Mini 4 pro… which one for a beginner?

I’m just starting out and trying to pick between these two drones. The Mini 4 Pro combo is a bit too pricey for me, but I’d love to hear what people think about both options.

I was in the same boat. At first, I was eyeing the Mini 4K, but after looking into it more, I couldn’t decide between the Mini 3 and Mini 4 Pro. I wanted the Mini 4 Pro mostly for the obstacle sensors. But then I found a local deal on a Mini 3 with extra batteries and the RC screen, so I grabbed it.

No regrets at all. I haven’t once wished I had sensors while flying.

What do you actually want to use your drone for?

A lot of people will say the Mini 4 Pro just because it looks better on paper. But if you’re not going to use all the extra features, it’s not worth the extra money.

I thought I needed the Mini 4 Pro, but after thinking about how I’d actually use it, I went with the Mini 3. Saved a bunch of cash and no regrets. I fly mine daily and love it.

@Bali
I’m mostly interested in this as a hobby for now, but there’s a chance I could switch departments at work and fly drones for HVAC roof inspections. Would the Mini 4 Pro’s sensors be worth it for that?

@Ripley
If it’s for work, wouldn’t the company supply the drone anyway? And would the Mini 4 Pro even be enough for commercial work?

I flew my Mini 3 around my roof just fine, no sensors needed. They’re nice, sure, but they’re not a must-have. I’ve flown both with and without them and honestly, I don’t think they make a huge difference once you get used to flying.

The fly more combo is totally worth it. Having the bag and extra batteries makes flying way more enjoyable. With just one battery, even the Mini 4 Pro would feel like a letdown after 15 minutes.

If you’re just starting, I’d actually say try the Neo. The camera isn’t amazing, and it flies kind of like the others, but it’s tougher and can survive most crashes. I’ve had a Mavic 3 for years and only really got comfortable flying after getting the Neo.

Mini 4 Pro.
