I just got a Mini 4 Pro with the RC2. I’ve flown it for 5 days now.
I’ve had some successful flights over the past few days, but this morning I got a red error that said “unable to take off.” It said I need the DJI Fly app.
My setup: Before my first flight, I updated all the software on both the drone and RC2. I haven’t used my phone at all. Nothing has changed since my last flight two days ago. I am in the same spot as before. No settings have been changed.
From what I’ve read on this forum, the RC2 Fly app should be enough to do everything minus transferring files. I thought I wouldn’t need my phone.

Downloaded maps. I haven’t used my phone at all with my previous flights.
Try flying with the RC2 connected to a wifi hotspot from your phone. I’m in Canada, and the rules are similar (you don’t have to register or get a license if it’s under 250g). I’ve never seen this message. Some posts on the DJI forums said the drone can tell when you’re using a plus battery and that it’s overweight. I’m not sure why it would only be a problem after a few flights, but something to think about.
I think your drone doesn’t have Remote ID built in. DJI made it so you need a cell phone to meet the rules (not sure if you need service). I got the FPV, which didn’t have Remote ID. After I updated in December, I got the same error. I need to connect my phone to my goggles to get past it. FYI, after the flight starts, you can disconnect your phone, but you have to do this every time you start a new flight.
