Can I fly my Mini Pro 4 with these issues? I don’t want to take off if it’s not safe enough to get it back to me.
- The sensor is not available because your drone is currently not flying. It seems like you’re using a Mini 4 Pro?
- The drone has a maximum take-off altitude. You can check the DJI official website for specifics. If you’re in an area higher than its allowed altitude, you won’t be able to take off.
@Holt
I’m currently at an altitude of 2750 meters and thought I read that the Mini 4 Pro can take off at 4000 meters.

Is that altitude from sea level? The 2750 meters?

Yes, 2750 meters above sea level. Around 9000 feet.
@Shan
Then you absolutely can take off. I’ve double-checked the error message on your screen. It’s just a reminder that you are in a high altitude environment. Many things can go wrong, especially the motors have to work harder to maintain flight. This will lead to shorter battery life.
@Holt
Sweet! Thanks for the confidence boost! I just took off and didn’t have any issues!

To give you an idea, air is around 24 slugs at sea level. At 9000 feet, it’s around 18 slugs. That’s 25% less, which means the motors will spin faster but move less air, resulting in less lift—about 25% to possibly 50%.
I’m more curious about how the props sound at altitude.
@Remington
Oh yes, I can feel it. I went to the gym yesterday and felt lightheaded. Even going up a flight of stairs has me winded. I didn’t really notice any sound differences during takeoff though. I feel like I can hear it further away than usual.
There must be a market for high-pitch props for high altitudes. I love flying in scenic mountains and I’m sure others would too!

Good to know. Just remember that at higher altitudes, the air is less dense, resulting in less lift from the props. So be extra mindful of battery life. Happy flying!
@Holt
Yes! Less ‘air’ for the propellers to push against! I’ll be flying at even higher altitudes in Bolivia and Peru soon, so I’ll definitely manage handling and power carefully.

That’s good to know. Share pictures of the view; I bet it’ll be breathtaking.

3000m with the plus battery.

That’s amazing you’re so high up!
Given your post history, if you’re in the Andes, the high density altitude will eat through your battery life quickly. I wouldn’t bother.

Yeah, still in the ‘Andes,’ but I’m in Sucre, Bolivia, at 2750 meters. I don’t need much battery to get some shots. If density reduces my 30-minute flight time to 10 minutes, that’s fine with me.
@Shan
2750 meters is about 9k ft. I’ve flown my drone without issues in Colorado at similar altitudes. Just make sure you have a clear view of the sky to connect with as many GPS satellites as possible. I fly an Air2S, which is larger.
@Levi
What’s the max altitude for your drone?
I’ve flown fine at 2000m with a Mini 4 Pro like yours and have those messages as well. Flight times at 2000m felt similar to sea level.
The sensing system is off because the drone isn’t flying; that’s normal and should clear once you take off unless you’re in sport mode.
