I want to add a GPS to my Crux35 but it seems quite tricky since it doesn’t have enough UARTs. I’m looking to install a GPS, Inav and a Walksnail or DJI unit on a smaller drone to enjoy some tricks and capture great footage. Would the Babyape 2 fit what I need
Flywoo LR4 with Walksnail is a solid choice. Trying to go smaller with all those needs might not be worth it. You’ll get over 20m with the LR4 using a Li-ion battery, and it comes with a full-size Walksnail camera that can capture great footage.
@Jaime
That sounds perfect for me, thanks for the tip
Have you considered the itsy by Spydr? It’s probably the best flying drone around.

Thanks for your input, I’ll check it out
Doesn’t the Happymodel F411 have some open UARTs? I could have sworn I found at least one…

Yeah, it has UARTs, but it seems you have to jump through a few hoops to get it running. Happymodel mentioned they don’t support it, but I’ve seen others successfully adding GPS on the CRUX.

The F411s actually have 2 UARTs. Those are usually for your receiver and VTX. That’s just how F411 works. You can sacrifice the UART for your VTX for a GPS if you want. The VTX will still work but you can’t control it.
@Hayden
I read about the soft serial method, that could be a deal breaker if you frequently use SA/TRAMP. I don’t race and my group has assigned channels, so it’s rare we use it, but losing functionality wouldn’t be ideal. I’m planning to build a SpeedyBee Bee 25 with DJI after completing my larger project. I’d suggest going that route. The frame looks good, fits an O3 and you can pick any stack or AIO you like. Whatever you choose, make sure to get something with a dedicated RX and VTX for more available UARTs. For BNF options, I’m not sure… I haven’t shopped for those in ages. FlyFish Volador frames are also a great pick for 3.5" freestyle builds.
