Trying to pick my first drone for wedding photos

I’m getting married abroad this September with just me, my soon-to-be wife, and our 4-year-old. I’d love to capture some moments without too much hassle. I’m stuck choosing between the Neo and the Flip. Any advice would be great!

I’m a photographer, so I’m biased, but honestly just hire someone. You don’t want to be messing about with drones on your wedding day.

I already have a photographer booked through the hotel, but I want to capture more than just the day itself — like the whole trip.

If it’s between those two, I’d definitely go with the Flip for better quality.

Yeah, that’s the way I was leaning, thanks!

Make sure it’s legal to let your drone fly without you controlling it.

I checked if drone use is legal there, but didn’t think about that. Thanks for the heads-up!

Go for Neo if you want something small and easy to carry. It’s tiny and fits in your pocket. You can just press a button and it’ll fly and take a shot for you. Battery life is short though—about 10-12 minutes per battery, so you’ll need extras. For quick, automatic shots it’s perfect.

That said, if you want the best quality for memories, hiring a pro with a bigger drone is better. If you want to do it yourself and keep costs low, Neo will work.

I have a photographer sorted, but wanted to do a few shots myself. Is there a big difference in picture quality between the two?

DJI’s bigger drones have larger sensors and better picture quality. Neo still takes good photos but the difference, especially in photos, is noticeable. The Flip is similar to the Mini 4 Pro and gives better quality.

Forget the drone and hire a proper photographer. The last thing you want is the annoying drone buzz on your wedding day.

I have a photographer, but I want to get some shots myself for a video. With a 4-year-old around, the drone noise won’t be a big deal.

This sounds like a bad idea. Why not set up a tripod instead?

Apart from battery life and having to keep an eye on the drone, do you really want drone noise at your wedding?

I thought about a tripod, but I like the idea of the drone following my wife down the aisle.

@Pierce
I guarantee it won’t work how you think it will. Honestly, it’s a bad idea.

Neo is super easy to use and weighs almost nothing in your bag. But the picture quality isn’t as good. I’d go with Flip—it’s bigger but the image quality is better. Congrats man :+1:

That’s my dilemma—does better image quality beat smaller size? Thanks!

@Pierce
Neo’s image quality is good but it won’t match the Mini 4 Pro or bigger drones. If you just want to capture moments on the trip and size matters more, Neo’s fine.

@Pierce

Neo foto quality, you gotta decide if thats good enough
