I store mine vertically and label them to track charge cycles.
I want a hard case, but I have a bunch of accessories, and none of the online ones are big enough. Might have to get a blank and cut the foam myself. Was it a good price? Apache? What size?

I grabbed a 3800 and 2800 yesterday. Really solid cases for the price.

Did the same thing for my Air 2S. Fits the drone, 3 batteries, charger, extra props, and controller.
