I was watching a splashdown recovery and noticed a drone flying around. Anyone know what model they use?
Spent 10 minutes looking it up… still got no clue lol.
If I had to guess, it’s probably bigger than a 7” since they’d need a solid camera and long battery life.
I asked this in another forum and got muted lmao.
Since SpaceX falls under ITAR rules, it has to be an approved drone from the ‘Blue UAS’ list. Probably a Skydio.
@Cameron
So does the video bring up any concerns about the battery life or flight time of that drone?

Yeah, that’s exactly what I was wondering about.

They could just have multiple drones and swap them out when the battery runs low.
@Jules
Makes sense. If you check at 1:35:00, you can see something small taking off from the ship. Timestamp link: https://youtu.be/IDYt1l_7UvU?t=1h35m3s

But the drones were already in the air before the boats showed up. So they’d have to be really fast to pull that off.
@Jean
Even DJI’s Inspire 3 can hit 94 km/h and fly for about 28 minutes while live streaming. Seems like it’d be a solid choice for this job.
@Cameron
Funny how they say it’s real because it looks fake… and we’re supposed to believe they have nothing to hide when they censor questions?
Probably a Skydio.

Just here to see the answers lol.
That info’s probably classified.
I kept asking my wife about it the whole time That battery life had me jealous.
Swellpro Splashdrone maybe?
Like NASA would ever tell us lol.
It was a Mini 4 Pro.
