I just got a brand new Mini 4 Pro after my last one randomly fell out of the sky… and this was its FIRST FLIGHT out of the box!!
I double-checked everything—propellers, battery locked in, all good to go.
I’m leaving for Hawaii in 8 days… will DJI get me a replacement in time? I even went mountaineering to try and recover it but couldn’t find a trace of it…

That moment where it tilts sideways before dropping makes me think a big bird grabbed it for a second and then let go.

Line of sight?! Ever heard of it?
If you had kept LOS, you’d know if a bird hit it. Also, you’d probably have been able to recover it. Maybe you’re not in the US?
Sorry for your loss, but if people keep ignoring the rules, we’re all gonna lose flying privileges.

Exactly. People who ignore the rules get called out, but it’s justified. Stuff like this just ruins it for everyone.

I’m guessing DJI doesn’t cover stuff like this…

If you got Care Refresh, you’re covered.

Yeah, Care Refresh should take care of it.

Care Refresh 100% covers this. DJI doesn’t care—they just want you back in the air ASAP making content.

Could’ve been a bird?
That was my first thought, but I didn’t see anything in the footage or in line of sight (though it was kinda far away).

Based on the way it moved, I’d bet it was a bird. They can be hard to spot if you’re far away.

I swear 99% of these posts are just people admitting they flew beyond visual line of sight.

That makes no sense… Are you saying you couldn’t see what happened because it was too far away?

Birds rule the sky.
Would putting bright-colored stickers on the drone help avoid bird attacks?
Thinking of adding some 3M reflectors.

Some birds, yeah… but not the smart ones like ravens.
My Mini 4 got chased by ravens in December. I nearly crapped my pants, but somehow managed to land it safely.

Just curious—how are you getting this footage? Are you recording through the remote? Can you still capture crashes if you’re using a phone instead of a built-in screen?

The last 30 seconds of video get saved to the app and remote.

@Tatum
Ahhh, got it! That makes sense. I always wondered how people manage to record all these crashes and bird attacks.
