$230 CAD for Drone Insurance… Is It Reasonable?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been quoted $230 CAD annually by Coverdrone for insurance on my DJI Mini 2. This covers both drone damage and liability up to $1.2 million. I plan to use the drone for commercial real estate projects as well as for personal practice.

I’ve read that some folks pay less than $100, but that usually only covers damage to the drone. Do you think this is a reasonable price for coverage that includes both damage and liability, or can I find cheaper options elsewhere?

Thanks in advance for your input!

I’m paying 35.75€ annually in Germany for both drone damage and liability. $230 CAD sounds a bit high in comparison.

When I first started flying, I joined my local model club, which required being a member of the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics). Membership costs $80 a year, and it includes a $2.5 million liability policy.

Just a heads-up, though—club insurance like that usually doesn’t cover commercial use, which is what the OP is asking about.

From what I’ve seen, $600 a year is about average for commercial drone insurance in the US. Would love to hear if anyone’s found a cheaper option.
