Hey everyone, I put together a short video and would really appreciate any honest feedback or tips. Still learning and trying to get better, so please let me know what you think!
Some of your shots look overexposed and way too saturated. If you’re using auto exposure, try adjusting it to -0.3 EV. If you’re flying over darker areas like water or rocks, maybe go down to -0.5 EV. The camera will try to balance everything, but that doesn’t always give the best result.
Try to film during better lighting times—golden hour, right before or after a storm, or at dawn/dusk to get more cinematic shots.
Also, practicing some smooth combo moves like manual orbits or parallax shots helps a lot. Use cine mode if possible. And when you edit, keep only the best clips. Don’t be afraid to cut stuff out.
@Gale
Thanks so much, I’m still learning so this is super helpful!
A few clips look overexposed, or maybe the color grading is off—might be a LUT issue?
Overall the shots are nice, but I think a little context would help. Where was this filmed? The castle is a great focal point, but it feels a little jumbled going back and forth between that and the field scenes.
A lot of it feels too bright and overly colorful. Try taking multiple videos with different camera settings and make notes—once you get a feel for what works, you can fine-tune better later.
That alpaca shot really pops! Nice colors and feels lively. But the rest of the video feels kinda flat in comparison. Maybe give color grading another go to balance things out? It’s still a nice video overall.
You’ll want to put more effort into color grading. Right now, the colors don’t feel balanced.
The video feels a little scattered—jumping between castle and fields without a clear reason. Composition-wise, the ground shots don’t really grab attention and the castle shots cut off the building too much. Also, filming vertically doesn’t help in this case.
Still, it’s a solid video to show friends and family! Just don’t expect it to go viral as is.
@Zayne
I appreciate your thoughts, I’ll try to apply some of these ideas next time!
That shot around the 5-second mark with the grass blowing in the wind was beautiful—reminded me of those old Windows wallpapers!

Yeah, that was a corn field that hadn’t ripened yet. I really liked that effect too. Thanks for noticing!
@Quinlan
Was this filmed in Germany?

The fields are in Saxony, Germany. The castle is actually in Loket, Czech Republic.

Ah that makes sense. I figured it had to be Germany or somewhere in Eastern Europe. Great job putting it all together!
If you want more useful feedback, it helps to explain what you were aiming for. What kind of feeling or style were you going for? What did you want viewers to take away from it? That context helps us know what to focus on when giving advice.
If you were standing on the ground, would you take a picture of those fields? Just because you’re flying doesn’t mean it’s automatically more interesting. This video feels like a case of flying without a real plan.
Next time, ask yourself: what’s the subject of this shot? If you don’t have a clear answer, maybe it’s better to skip it.
