Anyone else lost a Mini 3 due to "critically low voltage"?

I was bringing my Mini 3 back when I suddenly got a “Critically low voltage. Landing” warning and lost all connection. I was at 34% battery at the time. When I checked the last known location on the map, the drone was gone. I couldn’t hear it over the controller beeping and after searching for an hour, I couldn’t find it. Earlier in the day, I did get a low battery warning and some beeping, but I still made it back with 15% battery. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I had the same issue. Luckily, I had just taken off and was still close by. My battery was over 80%, but the drone acted like the voltage was too low and started auto-landing. I managed to bring it down safely. I checked the battery afterward, and it looked fine, no swelling or anything. I fully charged it and flew again with no issues. Still, I’m not fully trusting that battery now.

That’s interesting. In my case, it immediately disconnected and I couldn’t do anything. Just before flying, I was looking for info on muting the controller, but it didn’t seem possible without opening it (RC-N1). I wish I could’ve heard the drone and known where it was going. Honestly, I flew further than I should have, but I was so close to home and still had plenty of battery left. I only got this Mini 3 two days ago. I already have an Air 3, but I wanted something cheaper to practice with. This doesn’t feel like it was my fault, so it stings a bit.

I just got a Mini 3 too, so let me know if you ever figure out what caused this.

What’s the battery’s age, cycle count, and temperature when this happened? It could be due to excessive voltage drop, especially with older batteries. Remember the iPhone 6s shutdown issue a few years back? Same idea.

Hey, thanks for sharing this. If you’re really worried about the issue, you might want to submit a repair request through this link: https://repair.dji.com/us/repair/index. The certified technicians can take a look at it. If you need help, feel free to reach out to them.

@Tamsin
How are they going to inspect it if it’s lost?

Lol

Were you flying near a geofence or restricted airspace? It sounds like you might have been flying beyond visual line of sight (BLOS). Did you not see what happened to the drone? You can probably check the flight logs to see if there’s any info on what happened. If nothing else, you should report it as a flyaway and see if they’ll replace it.
