So I was flying my new DJI Flip the other day, and out of nowhere, two birds attacked it. The drone dropped from around 30 feet and landed in some grass — no damage at all, just the battery popped off.
It all happened super fast, maybe 7 seconds. Lucky for me, the drone was already close to home, just above the roof. I was surprised the motor noise didn’t scare the birds away.
Has this happened to anyone else?
That’s why it helps to have a spotter. I once missed a bird coming in on mine because I was glued to the screen.
Birds can be fearless — I’ve seen small ones chase off hawks. Your Flip probably looked like a threat. It’s common, especially during nesting season.
Yeah, it’s not the noise — they likely thought your drone was getting too close to their nest or babies. Birds will protect their space if they feel threatened.
