Hey folks,
I’m flying from Toronto to Islamabad with a 4-hour stop in Jeddah. I won’t be leaving the airport — just passing through the international terminal.
I’ve got a DJI Mini 3, one battery (under 100Wh), and the controller. Planning to bring it in my carry-on. I know most airlines allow drones in carry-ons if the battery is under 100Wh, but I saw on the Saudi customs page that they say ‘remote-controlled drones are not allowed.’
Has anyone here flown through Jeddah recently with a drone, even just while transiting? Any trouble with airport security or customs?
Would appreciate any tips or real stories. Thanks!
If a country has rules against drones, it’s usually safest to just follow them. I was heading to Norway and they had some tough rules — you could get fined thousands if you break them.
When I fly with my drone, TSA usually wants the drone itself in either bag, but the battery must go in your carry-on. If it’s in checked baggage, they might flag your bag and pull it apart during screening.

Yeah, I’ve got a small case just for the drone and battery, and I’m keeping everything in my carry-on. Nothing’s going in the checked bag.
