Anything I should know before buying a Dji fpv drone?

Honestly, it’s worth it just for the goggles. You could sell the drone and controller for about $300.

Good point. I was planning to get the goggles anyway.

Check eBay too. I got mine refurbished for around $250, and it’s in perfect condition.

@Vance
I’ve been thinking about getting a refurbished one. How was the condition?

Looked brand new to me! No complaints at all.

I’d skip it. It’s fragile and slow. Beginners and advanced pilots won’t enjoy it much. If you’ve got $300 more, get a better setup with a different drone and goggles.

Fair enough. I’ll keep that in mind!

As long as you don’t crash it, $550 is a good deal. The goggles alone are worth that much if you plan on sticking with DJI (especially if you’re going with the O3 system).

I’ve been planning to build a 5” freestyle with O3, but this deal came up and now I’m considering this as a quicker way to get flying. Already have a controller ready.

The goggles are worth about $400, max.

@Drew
I don’t know why everyone says $400-500. I just bought some in great condition for $250.

Yeah, $400 tops. You got a really good deal at $250 though.

If they’re the V1 goggles, keep in mind they don’t work with DJI O3. Only the Air Unit and Vista.

Just practice on a simulator before flying. DJI FPV drones are way more fragile than regular FPV ones, so be cautious. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I’ve got about 36 hours on a sim so far. Feeling pretty good but still get surprised sometimes.

@Blakeley
You’ll crash, especially when trying new stuff. That’s normal in FPV. But the DJI FPV is fragile, and repairs can be costly.

I’ve had my DJI FPV for two years and it’s fun to fly, but yeah, it’s really fragile. I keep it in normal mode until I’m at least 100 feet up before switching to manual. Haven’t crashed it yet, but I’m super careful. For the price you’re getting, though, it sounds like a great deal. Enjoy!

Basic rule: stay away from the DJI potato.

It flies like a potato.

I’ve always dreamed of flying a potato. :joy:
