the media is really pushing this la fire drone story, almost blaming the whole delay on one incident. they’re painting drones as a major public hazard. with drones being used in conflicts like russia and ukraine, lawmakers might push for tighter regulations or bans. in a press conference, officials said the fbi is stepping in with tracking tech to monitor drones live. this could mean big changes for drone laws in 2025.
this isn’t just about one incident. there’s a pattern here. people flying drones near firefighting planes for views or clicks put lives in danger. many don’t even know basic rules like getting a trust certificate. this could’ve been worse if the drone hit a cockpit or rotor. people need to take this as a warning.
@Gentry
exactly. it’s not just rogue flyers; it’s also the platforms buying and promoting unsafe footage. they’re enabling this behavior.

yeah, take away the demand for illegal drone footage, and this problem might slow down.
@Taryn
removing demand helps, but we need stricter rules. no one should be flying without a 107 and faa-registered drones.

true, but wouldn’t stricter access to drones also stop some bad actors in the first place?

the issue is the bad actors don’t care about the rules. stricter laws won’t stop those ignoring them.
@Gentry
some platforms demonetize videos featuring dangerous activities like this. maybe that’s part of the solution.
so let’s ignore that this collision wasn’t minor. you can’t just tape over wing damage. these planes operate in extreme conditions, and even small issues can escalate.
honestly, the trust certificate should be more difficult, and the fines for breaking the rules should be bigger.

more people would take the rules seriously if drones came with clear warnings about faa requirements.
i own drones, and even i think stricter laws might be necessary. too many people ignore safety, putting others at risk. it’s not worth the danger to pilots and passengers.
it’s crazy that anyone can buy a high-speed drone with no training. there’s no system to stop irresponsible users.
this is why we can’t have nice things. a few reckless people ruin it for everyone.
