Thinking about getting into drones and trying to decide between the DJI Mini 3 or the Mini 3 Pro. Not sure if the Pro is really worth the extra money. Has anyone else been in this situation? Would love to hear what worked for you.
I bought the Neo… no complaints here.
Go with the Pro if you can swing it. Mini 4 Pro is even better if your budget allows.
I think the Mini 4K is solid. Any DJI drone is fine for beginners, but I wouldn’t drop too much cash if you’re just trying it out. If you’re thinking about getting into FPV later, maybe save up for something like the Avata. It’s still not as good as a custom FPV build though.
Honestly, most of the extras they throw into these DJI models are just to get people to spend more. Unless you’re using it for work, the Mini 4K is probably more than enough.
After a few flights, drones go from exciting to just being tools. I still like my Mini 2, but mostly for getting things done, not for fun.
Same here… I’m trying to figure it out too and thinking about the Flip.

I got the Flip. It’s decent for the price and the camera’s pretty good. Not great in strong wind though, so keep that in mind.

The Flip is good if noise doesn’t bother you and you don’t live somewhere windy. If you want something quieter and more stable, Mini 4 Pro is the way to go.
@Vaughn
Thanks for the tips! Still learning how all this stuff works.
I got the Mini 3 and I’m happy with it. It’s my first camera drone. I did get the RC with the screen and I really like it.
I’m loving my Mini 4 Pro now, but I started with the Mini 4K. The 4K is good enough for most people and way cheaper. Doesn’t have obstacle avoidance and the camera isn’t quite as sharp, but it flies well.
I also have a Neo. It’s not great if you want to fly it manually, but it’s cool for auto shots of people and groups.
Mini 4 Pro was my first real drone too. Still holding up even now. Honestly, I’ve avoided crashing it many times thanks to the collision sensors. Great for learning because it gives you some forgiveness.
I went with the DJI Mini 3 (non-Pro) and got a fly more combo that was lightly used. Saved a lot, didn’t get the screen controller, but I figured out how to use my Meta Quest 3 headset to view the feed. It’s been awesome—big screen view and I can still keep an eye on the drone. No more eye strain either. It’s easy to fly and the footage looks great.
The Mini 3 Pro was way more expensive for stuff I didn’t really need, though I do admit auto-follow and obstacle detection would be nice.
I started with a used Mini 2 just in case I crashed. Wasn’t a big risk money-wise. Once I got the hang of it, I bought a Mini 4. I thought I’d sell the Mini 2 but now I kinda like having both.
Go for the Mini 3 fly more combo. It’s cheaper than the Pro, and you get two extra batteries, a case, charging hub… that’s more fun than one battery with the Pro version.

And you can still get it with the RC controller and it still comes out cheaper than the Mini 3 Pro.
