Best Drone for a Beginner Who Loves Travel Photography?

Hey everyone! I’m new to drones and need some advice. Money isn’t an issue, and I’m looking for a beginner-friendly drone, as I have no experience with flying or photography.

I love traveling to scenic places like mountains, volcanoes, jungles, and valleys, and I want to capture stunning aerial shots and videos of these locations and the people I meet along the way.

I’ve been considering the DJI Mavic 3 Pro and the 3 Pro Cine premium models, which are expensive but seem worth it if they deliver top-notch image quality and are easy to fly. I’ve also heard great things about the DJI Air 2S, though I haven’t done much research on it.

Is it worth spending around $6k-7k AUD on high-end drones for a beginner, or should I go with something like the DJI Air 2S? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions!

The Mini 3 Pro is a good option for keeping the cost low, but for extra stability in high winds, the Air 2S is a great pick. I’ve flown both, and the Air 2S handles 40mph winds much better than the Mini 3 Pro, which struggled.

I’ve traveled with many DJI drones, and the Mini 3 Pro is my favorite. It’s great for travel due to its lightweight design. However, if you’re okay with the extra weight and restrictions, the Mavic Air 2S might be a better choice for image quality.

I’d recommend the Mini 3 Pro. The camera is fantastic, and the drone is easier to travel with. Plus, you don’t usually need to register it in foreign countries. The Mavic 3 has better image quality, but unless you’re getting serious about drone photography, the Mini 3 Pro is perfect.

For travel photography, a larger drone like the Mavic 3 might be better, especially in windy conditions. I recently took mine to New Zealand, and it handled the wind like a champ. The Mavic 3 is easy to fly, and the Hasselblad camera produces amazing images.

All DJI drones fly the same, so there’s no ‘beginner’ model in that sense. The Mavic 3 is more stable in high winds, and the Mini 3 Pro is great for vertical video. If you’re not doing pro-level work, you might want to start with the Mini 3 Pro and upgrade later.

If you’re hiking, the Mini 3 Pro is a solid choice for lightweight, easy flying. If you want something more advanced, the Air 2S is also great but a bit heavier for long hikes.

I own the Air 2S, Mini 3 Pro, and Mavic 3 Pro. The Mavic 3 Pro is the best all-around drone, with better wind resistance, flight time, and image quality. If weight is a concern, though, the Mini 3 Pro is easier to travel with. Both are great, but the Mavic 3 Pro is worth the extra cost.
