Looking to pick up a drone that can track me while biking or skating. I’ve heard about follow-me drones, but IDK which one’s best. I’m mainly looking for something under $1,000 with decent camera quality. Any recommendations? Bonus points if it doesn’t crash into stuff lol.
I’ve used the DJI Mini 4 Pro for mountain biking, and it’s solid. It has obstacle sensing and tracks really well.

Nice! How’s the video quality on it? Good enough for social media?

Yep, it’s got a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor. Perfect for social media posts!
If you can find it, the Skydio 2+ is amazing for tracking through tight spaces. Too bad it’s not being made anymore though.

Wait, it’s discontinued? That sucks! Any idea where I could get one?

Yeah, you’ll have to check eBay or buy it used. Totally worth it if you find one though.
For a higher budget, the DJI Mavic 3 Pro is unbeatable. Amazing camera and tracks flawlessly with ActiveTrack 5.0.

Sounds awesome, but how’s the battery life? I’d hate to stop mid-ride to charge it.

It lasts 43 minutes per charge, so it’s one of the best for long sessions!
If you’re on a budget, the DJI Air 3 is a great pick. It’s got dual cameras and omnidirectional obstacle sensing.

What’s omnidirectional obstacle sensing? Sounds fancy but IDK what it means.

It means the drone can detect obstacles in all directions, not just the front or back. Helps prevent crashes!
If you don’t actually need a drone, consider the DJI Osmo Action 4. It’s a killer action cam for rides.

Hmm, interesting. Does it give that drone-like perspective though?

Not really, but it’s great for POV shots and places where drones aren’t allowed, like National Parks.
