Looking to get an SD card for my Mini 3 Pro and possibly the RC. Not sure what size would be best. What do you guys use?
I use a 128GB card, but I could get by with 64GB since I transfer the footage after every flight. Honestly, 128GB is usually the same price, so I’d go with that just to avoid worrying about space.

Do you use 128GB for both the drone and the RC?
@Mori
The drone definitely, but the RC? Only if you have the controller with the built-in screen, then yeah, it has a slot for recording the screen. I use 64GB or less there since I rarely screen record.
@Gabi
Yeah, the controller with the screen has an SD slot, mainly for screen recordings. There’s a small bit of internal memory too, but it fills up quick.

I don’t bother with a card in the RC myself since I never screen record. If you don’t either, no need to worry about it.
@Mori
I just use a 512GB card because it’s what I had lying around. Works fine.
For the DJI Mini 3 Pro, it’s recommended to use a UHS-I Speed Class 3 card or above. Here’s the link to the list of supported MicroSD cards: 162.
I use 256GB cards because they give me peace of mind about not running out of space. I keep one in the RC to record emergency files and always have spare cards in my case.
I wouldn’t go below 64GB. I like having a mix of smaller cards and a 256GB one for longer flights.

Is it necessary to have an SD card in both the drone and RC?

That’s up to you. I only use one in the drone since I never really screen record.
@Kade
Same here. I keep one in the drone. The only reason you’d need one in the RC is for screen recordings.

I keep one in the RC just in case I forget to put the SD back in the drone, happened to me once on a long hike!
Here’s the recommended cards: SanDisk Extreme 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB V30 A2 microSDXC. Depends on your needs but these are solid choices.

What are your thoughts on having SD cards in both the drone and the RC?
@Mori
I keep one in the RC mainly as a backup in case I forget the one in the drone.
@Mori
You can download maps to the RC if you have an SD card in it.

Is it also helpful for insurance purposes?

It could be if you record every flight, but DJI already has all the flight data anyway, so you should be covered.
