Best starter drone for kids?

I’m looking for a good quality, affordable drone for my 8-year-old. It should be sturdy and easy for a kid to handle, but not too expensive. I’d love to hear any suggestions you have. Thanks!

The Tello is a solid choice for kids. It’s affordable, reliable, and has basic features that make it perfect for beginners.

Thanks! I’m leaning towards the Tello.

Check out the Holy Stone HS110D. It’s inexpensive, durable, and a good starter option for kids. It has a decent camera and should be under $100.

I recommend a whoop-style drone, like the Loolin Drone on Amazon. They’re nearly indestructible and can be flown indoors. My grandkids love it, and it’s easy for even a 4-year-old to fly.

Thank you for the suggestion!

For an 8-year-old, I’d recommend something small and easy to control, like the Tello or a basic Holy Stone model.

If you’re considering FPV, look into beginner FPV kits like the Betafpv Cetus. It’s a bit more technical but a great option if they’re interested in that side of the hobby.

The Potensic A20 is a great option for kids. It’s durable, super affordable, and easy to fly indoors. No camera, but it’s great for learning the basics of drone control.

It seems to be on sale at Amazon for 50% off right now, so I thought I would give it a go for my kids. I appreciate you sharing your experience.

@Peyton
Over a month later and still 50% off, so maybe that’s just their regular price strategy. Did you end up trying it out?

I ended up finding a good deal on a Tello, which was more in line with what I needed. Haven’t ruled out getting the Potensic as a practice drone, but the mixed reviews make me hesitant.

I also suggest checking out the Syma X5C. It’s a budget-friendly choice, durable, and perfect for beginners. It may not have advanced features, but it’s a solid starter drone for kids learning to fly.

Did some research, and I think I’m going with this one.

Thanks. I didn’t see anything specifically regarding kids, so I posted here. If I missed something, just let me know!
