Hey everyone,
I really enjoy flying my drone and watching the videos, but I don’t know how to edit them well. The DJI Mimo app does a good job, you pick some videos, and it quickly puts together something usable. But the editing options on my phone aren’t great, and it doesn’t handle longer videos well. Is there an app like this for Windows?
I use DaVinci Resolve. It’s awesome, and pretty much free for everything I need. I have a video where I edited my drone footage from New Zealand using DaVinci. It looks complicated, but after an hour of playing around and checking YouTube tutorials, it gets easier. Lol.
If you have a good computer, time, and want to learn, DaVinci Resolve is a great choice. You can use the free version for most things, and if you want, you can buy it later without needing a subscription. The best part is they offer lots of training videos, where you can follow along and practice. You even get the video files to use so you can do the steps with the instructor, which is way better than just watching someone else. All the training is free on their website.
Have you tried the DJI LightCut app? I use it a lot on my phone and haven’t had any issues with long videos, even with the highest resolution from the Action 4.
@Aydin1 It’s not so much about video length but the number of videos and pictures I try to include. I also don’t like editing on a small phone screen — I prefer using a mouse and keyboard for more control. It’s weird how there’s no PC version of these apps.
They’re much easier to use for someone just starting. Learning on DaVinci Resolve is like learning to fly on a 767! Focus on telling stories, learning how to sequence shots, and building tension. You can do all that with simple software. Once you’ve got the basics, moving to more advanced software will be easier. Or you might find that simpler tools are all you need to tell your stories.
