Black Falcon drone refund experience

I bought two Black Falcon drones because the ad looked amazing and the price seemed too good to pass up. I’ll admit, I was totally suckered by the hype. The drones arrived today, so I rushed home on my lunch break to plug in the batteries. Right away, I noticed the drone felt flimsy, but I was still excited to try it out.

I turned it on, and it lifted off the ground but immediately banked right—without any input from me—straight into a wall. I tried several times, but it kept doing the same thing. I gave the second drone a shot, and it wouldn’t even lift off the ground.

I finally looked up some reviews and realized I’d made a huge mistake. I called customer service, but they hung up on me right away. I sent an email and got a response within five minutes, which made it clear they knew they were running a scam and weren’t going to fight me on it.

Take it from me: don’t buy Black Falcon drones. If you do, dispute the charge and tell them you feel scammed. Learn from my mistake!

You bought a drone for $127. Honestly, not surprising.

Actually, I bought two drones for $127. Yeah, I fell for it that badly.

Your response gave me a good laugh. Thanks for the honesty.

@DanBurn
At least I can still make someone laugh online this week. Small wins.

Never buy a drone where the ‘reviews’ are clearly just ads in disguise.

Yeah, I know better. But I rushed into it, and my cheapness got the best of me. Lesson learned.

It happens to the best of us. These companies put out super cheap drones with flashy marketing and fake reviews, often using footage from reputable brands like DJI to lure people in. They hide overseas to make it hard for buyers to get their money back. The truth is, you won’t find a decent drone under $200 unless it’s just a toy. For commercial-quality drones, you’re looking at $1,000 or more, with high-end models costing up to $30,000 for specialized uses like agriculture or delivery.

The best thing we can do is report these scams on the platforms they advertise on and warn others through posts like yours. And yes, only buy from reputable sources next time. Sometimes hard lessons are the ones that stick.

@Ezri
Most of those popup ads are scams. If you paid with a debit card, it’s nearly impossible to get your money back. Credit cards offer better protection, as you can dispute the charge. I learned this the hard way, too.

What model did you get? Or is Black Falcon the only one they sell?

I started out with a junk drone from a game arcade and eventually upgraded to a Mavic 3 and a couple of Minis. With my Part 107 license, it’s been a great hobby. If you’re looking for something better, a DJI drone isn’t much more expensive and is a whole different experience.

@Jason
I’m saving up for a DJI. It’ll take some time since I work in public service, but I’ll get there. Luckily, my agency is covering the cost of my Part 107 test.

You won’t regret it. DJI drones are incredibly reliable. Even their entry-level models like the Mini 3 are leagues ahead of Black Falcon.

When you get one, make sure to invest in DJI Care insurance. Crashes happen, even to experienced pilots. Better safe than sorry.

I recently got the Mini 4 Pro, and it’s been amazing. It’s pricey, but the experience makes it worth every penny.

@Skyler
That’s the plan, but it’ll have to wait. I just paid for my kid’s braces and a new roof. The fun purchases will come later when I can afford them without stretching the budget.

Totally understandable. I waited until I had extra cash, too.
