What affordable drones would you recommend? I would need anything non-DJI that costs less than $400 to video my dad’s roof and property while he is in hospice care. There are a lot of trees, thus collision warning would be nice. Although I sold my Mavic Air years ago, I’m not a novice and certainly not an expert. Thank you!
Given your needs, a drone with a good camera and obstacle avoidance is essential. Here are some solid options under $400:
Recommended Drones:
- Ryze Tello: A budget-friendly option that’s easy to fly, featuring basic obstacle avoidance and a decent camera for the price.
- Ryze Tello EDU: This version includes coding capabilities for educational purposes, while still delivering good flight performance and camera quality.
- DJI Mini SE: Offers superior camera quality, extended flight time, and additional features like GPS, making it a great value for slightly more.
Important Considerations:
- Battery Life: Ensure the drone’s battery lasts long enough to complete your inspections.
- Camera Resolution: A higher resolution will provide clearer images, especially important for detailed inspections.
- Obstacle Avoidance: Critical for safely navigating around trees and structures.
- Flight Modes: Look for features like GPS, return-to-home, and follow-me for added safety and ease of use.
Lastly, always check local regulations before flying your drone.
