I’m a track runner and need a camera person, but I can’t always find someone to help. Are there any drones that can follow me automatically while I run, without needing to be controlled?
Skydio S2 and S2+ have tracking features. Some use GPS with a beacon, others track your movement. They also have obstacle avoidance, so you can run pretty freely in most places. Check out some videos on YouTube for examples.

Skydio is the best for follow me features. Other drones are more likely to crash into obstacles.

I’ve seen the Mini 3 Pro do pretty well with tracking too.
A lot of drones, even budget ones like my Snaptain, have a ‘follow me’ function. They lock onto the controller, so you’d just keep that with you while you run. The smoother the drone, the better the tracking will be.

Which specific models should I look at? I’m new to drones.
What’s the max battery life on drones like this? I’d like to track a 100km bike race, but I’m not sure if that’s possible with current tech.
I’m looking for a drone that can lock onto your face and follow you automatically. Are there any that do this?
If you’re looking for options, try searching for ‘budget drones with follow me’ on Google or Amazon. DJI is a popular brand, but it’s more expensive. My Snaptain follows me, but it’s not very smooth. Good luck finding one that works for you!

That’s awesome! How did it track you? Was it using visual tracking or something else?

Many drones have this feature. My DJI Mavic Air has it, but be careful. Some drones don’t have obstacle avoidance on the sides, so they might crash if they’re flying left or right.
