Can I switch drones on the DJI RC-N3 by changing firmware?

So I’m trying to use the same RC-N3 controller with two different drones (Mini 4K and Neo). I heard you can do this by changing the firmware, but I’m stuck. The guides I’ve watched show you how to pick the drone model using the connection guide, but mine skips that step and jumps right into step 2. Can’t figure out how to choose the drone model on this controller.

Edit: I meant Mini 4K, not Mini 3.

As far as I know, the Mini 3 won’t work with the N3 because it runs on O2, and the N3 uses O4. I think the Mini 3 Pro might have a way to work with O4, but not the regular Mini 3.

Yeah, my bad—I meant Mini 4K. That’s the one I’m currently using with the controller.

@Blaine
Got it. I still think it’s the same issue though. The Mini 4K uses O2 and the N3 is an O4 controller. Unless there’s some hidden firmware trick, they’re just not built to work together.

Pulled this from the DJI site about the RC-N3:

Works with:

  • DJI Air 3S
  • DJI Air 3
  • DJI Mini 4 Pro
  • DJI Flip
  • DJI Neo

Makes sense now. I kept mixing up model numbers and was getting results for the N3 when I meant the N1. These controllers look way too similar—DJ could’ve made that clearer.
