Can I Use a Drone to Seal Leaks in High Walls?

I have some small leaks in high walls of a residential building, but the height and layout make it impossible to use a ladder. There’s also an obstruction blocking access.

I’m thinking about using a drone to apply sealant to these areas.

I’m not sure what this method is called or how to find someone with experience in doing this. Any advice would be really helpful!

Honestly, this sounds wild, but I’d love to see it. If you try this, make sure you record it! It might go viral.

That said, you’re probably better off renting a lift or scaffolding. Or just get a professional painter to give you a quote.

@Aeron
You made me laugh! Thanks for that. I’ll explore those options.

This might not be a DIY job. What kind of leaks are these? Where exactly are the walls, and what’s causing the obstruction?

I really want to see this happen. It’s like something straight out of a movie. Are you building a Flex-Seal drone?

Imagine replacing the bottom of the drone with a screen door and sealing it mid-air. Jokes aside, this could be an interesting experiment!

This isn’t practical. The airflow from the drone (downwash) would blow the sealant everywhere but the wall.

A drone that can pull this off would cost you way more than hiring a contractor to fix it properly. You could probably get it redone every few years and still save money.

How high are we talking here? This sounds more like a job for a boom lift, which can go up to 150 feet. If that’s not enough, scaffolding is probably your best bet.

For what it’s worth, I recently applied for a job with a company using drones to wash windows. I’m still scratching my head about how they make that work, but it’s definitely possible.

This just isn’t a good idea. You might want to reconsider.
