@Wil
Found the guy with signal intel!
You’d think so, but no. I had random jobs unrelated to my specialty. Also flew some drones myself.

I worked on some of those drones early in my career, mostly smaller ones like the Wasp and Raven.
@Alden
I helped develop the electronics for Wasp. Were you working on them for the military or a contractor?

I was fresh out of school and working for a contractor.

I was with them around '05-'08. When were you there?

The only place I know of where they actively jam signals in California is Fort Irwin. It’s out in the middle of nowhere.
There could be interference at other test ranges too. Sometimes, systems under testing mess up signals outside of the expected range.

The nearest military base is over 50 miles away.

Distance isn’t always the issue. Which base? That might give me a better idea if they’re running something nearby.
@Alden
Moffett Field is closest, but I’m not sure if that’s military. Travis AFB is around 80 miles away. Never had this issue before.

Moffett is mostly NASA and some military, but no major tests. DJI drones use 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies, so maybe your neighbor has new gear that’s causing interference without meaning to.
Anyone know if jammers are easy to get? I’m thinking of buying one for protection.

You don’t need much power to block a signal. A few hundred milliwatts can disrupt a drone.
@Dallas
I heard some are powerful, though. Couldn’t that be risky?

150 watts for a handheld jammer seems like overkill.
Have you tried using a different controller? I had a similar issue with a bad antenna on my Inspire 2. Switched bands, and it worked fine.
What was the KP index that day?

I bet you didn’t even check the KP index before flying, did you?
You might want to adjust your tinfoil hat a bit.
Try using a free app to check for WiFi interference. It’ll show you if anything is overlapping with the DJI frequencies. If you see interference, you’ll have something to report.
