Can the DJI Air 3s be used for mapping?

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if the Air 3s could be used for basic mapping? I can’t really afford a high-end drone right now, and I’ve read that a global shutter is usually better for mapping. Just trying to see what’s possible with what I’ve got.

If you’re using a phone with the controller, it’s way easier since you can run third-party apps. Those don’t work on the RC2 though, so keep that in mind.

You can literally map with a GoPro strapped to a kite, so yeah, the Air 3s can do it. That said, things like RTK, global shutters, and flight planning software definitely help. If you’re working with more basic gear, GCPs (ground control points) become even more important.
